Congratulations to senior football player Cam Nagle who will receive the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Courageous Player Award at an awards banquet on April 27th at Lantana's in Randolph. Cam is one of seven players in the state of Massachusetts who will be honored for "overcoming a physical challenge, enduring a hardship and serving as an inspiration to his team". Cam was seriously injured in a car accident during the summer of 2013 and missed his junior year of football during the rehabilitation process. He assisted the team during the fall of 2013 by filming all of the games. He returned to
the field in his senior year and was a key contributor on the Mansfield HS State Championship team as a defensive back and a member of the special teams.


Senior Captains Kyle Wisnieski and Steve Zieselman of Mansfield High School will be honored by the National
Football Foundation as two of the top 20 scholar-athletes in Eastern Massachusetts. The Eastern MA chapter of the Foundation will hold their awards banquet on Sunday, May 4th at the Newton Marriott. Steve will be attending Colby College in the fall and Kyle will be attending Bentley University in the fall and both will continue their football careers on the college level.



Three senior student-athletes from Mansfield HS have been selected to play in the Massachusetts Shriner's All-Star Football Game for 2014. Kyle Wisnieski, Michael Hershman and Steve Zieselman will participate in the game for the South Squad and the all proceeds from the game are donated to the Shriner's Hospital in Boston, MA. The game will be played at Bentley University on Saturday, June 21st at 4:00 pm.

The Mansfield Football Team will receive the Community Service Award from the MIAA for their participation in the Brooke Dubeau Fundraiser on Friday, March 7th. The team has also actively participated in the Leaf Raking for the Elderly, the Turkey Brigade and the Relay for Life event at Mansfield HS in June. Congratulations to the students for their efforts in these community service events.


The Varsity Football team defeated Foxboro by a score of 14-7 to improve their record to 12-0 on the season. Alex Ruddy earned MVP honors for the game and Dhruv Patel earned the Matt McHugh Lineman Award for the game. Curtis Boisvert led the team in rushing, Mike Hershman had some key receptions and the defense shut out Foxboro for 44 minutes and they were led by Q'ra Guichard, John Keefe, Stanley Pignone, Aurian Dawkins and Joe Moreshead.

The team will now play St. John's of Shrewsbury at Gillette Stadium on Saturday 12/7 at 1:30 pm for the Division 2 State Championship. This is the first time in Massacusetts History that there has been a state wide championship played in football. Come to the game and support the players, cheerleaders and Hornet Marching Band as the Hornets play for the state title.

The Varsity team defeated Waltham on Saturday in the Division 2 State Semi-Final game by a score of 41-0. TD's were scored by Mike Hershman, Miguel Villar-Perez, Chris Buchanan, Alex Ruddy and Brendan Hill added 2 TD receptions from Kyle Wisnieski.
The defensive shutout was led by Q'Ra Guichard, Aurian Dawkins, Mike Barresi, Dhruv Patel and Conor Finerty. The team is now 11-0 overall and will play Foxboro on Thursday at Ahern Field in their annual Thanksgiving Day Game at 10:00 am.

The next playoff game will be held at Gillette Stadium on December 7th and the Hornets will play St. John's of Shrewsbury for the Division 2 State Championship.

On Friday night, the Freshmen football team defeated Foxboro by a score of 27-6 to finish a great season with a record of 9-1-1. The team was led by Anthony DeGirolamo, Nick Graham, Liam Cummings, Colin Gibbons, Julio Arevalo, Will Garvin and Brian Lynch.

The Mansfield Hornets defeated Barnstable HS last Friday night to improve to 10-0 on the season and earn the Division 2 Sectional Championship, the first in Massachusetts State History with the new playoff format. The team will now advance to the Division 2 STATE Semi-Finals against Waltham HS of the North. The game will be played at 2:00 pm at Cawley Stadium in Lowell on Saturday, Nov. 23rd with the winner advancing to Gillette Stadium for the first true State Championship in Massachusetts history.

The team was led by Mike Hershman with 7 receptions for 132 yds and 2 TD's and Kyle Hurley who played great defense and also had 4 receptions and a TD. Kyle Wisnieski was 20/27 for 282 yds and now has over 2,000 yds passing for the season, a new school record. The defense was led by Q'ra Guichard, Alex Ruddy, Dhruv Patel and Aurian Dawkins.

The Freshmen Football game scheduled for this Saturday will now be played on Friday night against Foxboro on Alumni field at 5:30 pm to avoid a conflict with the playoff game on Saturday. The JV game with Foxboro has unfortunately been cancelled due to the conflict with the playoff game.

The Varsity Football defeated Needham on Friday night by a score of 42-35 to improve their record to 9-0 and advance to the Div 2 championship game on Friday night.

The team was led by Brendan Hill with 3 TD Receptions, Miguel Villar-Perez had 2 TD's and over 100 yards rushing and Chris Buchanan added over 50 yds rushing. On defense Mike Barresi had an interception and
caused a key fumble late in the game. Also playing well on defense was Conor Finerty, Stanley Pignone and Andrew Horstmann.

The team will now host Barnstable on Friday night on Alumni Field at 7:00 pm for the Division 2 Sectional Championship.

The Freshmen Football team improved to 8-1 overall with a 28-8 victory over Stoughton last night on Alumni Field.

The team scored their first TD on a pass from Anthony DeGirolamo to Conor Driscoll, then scored on a run by Brian Lynch and finished the first half with a TD punt return by Nick Graham to take a 21-0 lead into halftime. The team will now travel to Bridgewater-Raynham next Thursday for their next game.

The Varsity football team will host Needham tonight in the semi-finals of the Division 2 playoffs at 7:00 pm on Alumni Field. Needham is 7-1 and won the Bay State League title for the third year in a row. Come to the game and support the Hornet players, cheerleaders and Marching band as they attempt to move on to the Div 2 Championship next Friday.

The Varsity football team improved to 8-0 with a 31-14 victory over Wellesley in the Quarterfinals of the Division 2 Playoffs. Touchdowns were scored by Kyle Hurley, Miguel Villar-Perez and Chris Buchanan and Alex Thompson added a field goal and 4 extra points. On defense, Aurian Dawkins has 2 interceptions to lead the Hornets.

The JV game scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 am vs Milford has been cancelled due to the request of Milford HS. They have many JV players who have been moved up to Varsity level due to injuries and they do
not have enough players to compete at the JV level.

The Varsity team will host Wellesley this Friday in the Quarterfinal Round of the Division 2 South Playoffs. The winner of the game will move on to the Div 2 Semi-Finals and play the winner of Duxbury vs Needham. If Mansfield wins, they will host the Duxbury-Needham winner next Friday, Nov. 8th on Alumni Field.

Over the weekend, the three football teams swept Franklin. The Freshmen team improved to 6-1 with a 35-22 victory over the Panthers. Also on Saturday, the JV team improved to 6-1 with a 19-7 victory over Franklin.

On Friday, October 25th, the Varsity team improved to 7-0 with a 35-13 win over Franklin to clinch their 4th consecutive league title and finish the year as the #1 seed in Division 2 South. Miguel Villar-Perez ran for 150 yds and scored a TD, Kyle Wisnieski threw 3 TD Passes to Miguel, Mike Hershman and Brendan Hill and
Nick Martin scored 2 TD's to lead the Hornet offense. The defense was led by Q'ra Guichard, John Keefe, Dhruv Patel and Stanley Pignone. Beau Palanza was the special teams player of the week and Alex Thompson was 5/5 on extra points.

The team will now host Wellesley on Friday night at 6:00 pm on Alumni Field in the
first round of the Div. 2 Football playoffs.

On Friday night, the Varsity Football team defeated previously unbeaten King Philip by a score of 20-7 to improve their overall record to 6-0 and clinch the Hockomock League Championship title for the 4th year in a row.

Miguel Villar-Perez ran for over 100 yds and scored 2 TD's and Kyle Hurley had 5 receptions and a TD pass to lead the Hornets. The defense was led by linemen John Keefe and Dhruv Patel and linebackers Alex Ruddy and Q'ra Guichard and defensive backs Mike Barresi and Aurian Dawkins.

The team will now travel to Franklin for the last game of the regular season on Friday night at 7:00 pm to try and secure the #1 seed in Division 2 for the playoffs.

The JV team improved to 5-1 with a dominating win over the KP Warriors by a score of 29-8. Matt Carafa played well at QB and Beau Palanza led the team in rushing. On defense, Brian Schmidt had an interception and Steve Carabitses and Jared Archer played well on the line.

The JV will host Franklin on Saturday at 11:00 am on Alumni Field as part of a doubleheader with the Freshmen playing at 9:00 am.

The JV Football team improved to 5-1 with a 37-22 victory over Taunton on Monday, October 14th. Matt Carafa ran for a TD, Beau Palanza scored 2 TD's, Joe Bukuras scored a TD and kicked a field goal and CJ Daniel had a 50 yd fumble return for a TD to lead the Hornets. Also playing well for the Hornets were Jared Archer, Nick Borsari, Josh Schafer and Craig Polutchko.

Miguel Perez and Alex Ruddy each scored 2 TD's for the Hornets and Kyle Wisnieski passed for 240 yds and 2 TD Passes. The defense was led by John Keefe, Stanley Pignone, Joe Moreshead and Max Trowbridge.

The team will now travel to KP on Friday night to take on the undefeated Warriors in a battle for the league title. Come to the game this Friday night at 7:00 pm and support the players and cheerleaders in this key game.

The Hornet Freshmen Football team traveled to Taunton on Thursday, October 10, 2013 and defeated the Tigers in an exciting game to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Hornets won by a score of 12-7 with a 2nd half TD to take the lead.

In football action over the weekend, the Hornets swept Attleboro winning all three games. The freshmen defeated Attleboro by a score of 28-12 to improvetheir record to 4-0 on the season. The JV team scored in the final minuteon a pass from Matt Carafa to Matt Hogan to win by a score of 33-26 and improve
their overall record to 3-1.

On Friday, the Varsity team improved to 4-0 with an exciting win over previously undefeated Attleboro by a score of 49-42. Kyle Wisnieski set a school record with 312 yards passing in the game and Miguel Perez added three touchdowns to lead the Hornets. On defense, Aurian Dawkins had a big interception and Mike
Barresi had several pass break-up's.

All 3 teams will play Taunton this week for Homecoming.

Miguel Villar-Perez ran for over 100 yards for the 2nd game in a row and scored 2 TD's and Mike Hershman added two TD receptions from Kyle Wisnieski and Chris Buchanan added the last TD to seal the
game. The defense was led by Cam Nagle, Kyle Hurley and Andrew Horstmann.

The team will now travel to Attleboro on Friday night to take on the undefeated Bombardiers at 7:00 pm at their new turf facility. Come to the game and support the Hornet players and cheerleaders in this key league game!

Congratulations to the MHS Freshmen Football team for improving to 3-0 with an exciting, last minute victory over North Attleboro on Thursday afternoon. With just 48 seconds remaining in the game, Diego DeSousa kicked a 25 yd field goal to give the Hornets the victory in a hard fought game. The defense played outstanding all afternoon and were led by Julio Arevalo, Nick Graham, Christian Weber and Conor Driscoll. The team will host Attleboro next Thursday night at 6:00 pm on Alumni Field.


The JV football team improved to 2-0 with a dominating victory over non-league opponent Westford Academy. The team won by a score of 35-8 on Saturday on Alumni Field. Playing well for the Hornets were Matt Garvin, Beau Palanza, Joe Bukuras, Josh Schafer, Steve Carabitses and Matt Kashtan.

The Freshmen football team also improved to 2-0 with a 34-6 victory over Westford Academy on Saturday morning. Playing well for the Hornets were Will Garvin, Brian Lynch, Colin Gibbons, Diego DeSousa and Ben Budwey.

Both the JV and Freshmen teams will travel to NA for games next week. The Varsity will host North Attleboro this Friday at 7:00 pm on Alumni Field in a battle of undefeated teams.

The Varsity Football Team improved to 2-0 Thursday night with a 21-0 victory over the Milton Wildcats on Alumni Field. The team was led by outstanding defense from Dhruv Patel, John Keefe, Steve Zieselman and Andrew Horstmann. On offense Chris Buchanan, Miguel Perez and Brendan Keady all scored TD's with Alex Thompson making all 3 extra point attempts. Miguel Perez had his first 100 yd rushing game with 137 yards rushing.

The team now has a bye week before hosting North Attleboro in their first league game on Friday, September 27th on Alumni Field.

The freshmen football team started their season with a dominating victory over the Milton Wildcats by a score of 35-8. The team will now play their home opener next Saturday, Sep. 21st, at 10:00 am vs Westford Academy in a doubleheader with the Junior Varsity team.

The opening game for the Mansfield HS JV Football team has been changed to Monday, 9/16 at 3:45 pm at Milton High School. Players will be dismissed from class early to prepare for a 2:15 departure.

Congratulations to the football team on their victory over Dunbar HS of Baltimore, MD by a score of 29-26. Dunbar was the 3-time defending state champs of Maryland and ranked #4 in the state.

The Hornets trailed 26-21 with a minute to go but scored on a pass from Kyle Wisnieski to Mike Hershman with 17 seconds left to finish the comeback. MVP Kyle Wisnieski threw for 255 yds and passed for 2 TD's and ran for 2 TD's to lead the Hornets. He also has passed the 2,000 mark for career passing yards at Mansfield.

The team will now host Milton HS in their home opener on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. on Alumni Field.
